Things to Know

What is the difference between a Media Day and Sports Senior Session?
Media Day is designed for an entire team and focuses on creating strong individual portraits and team images in a structured, efficient setting. Each athlete receives a few individual photos along with team or group images, making it a great option for team media, social media, banners, and general season coverage.
A sports senior session is a completely separate experience designed specifically for one senior athlete. These sessions are focused on one person, allowing time for multiple locations around the school if needed, outfits, and a variety of poses that highlight the athlete’s personality, accomplishments, and final season. Senior sessions are meant to celebrate the athlete’s milestone year and result in a larger, more personal gallery.
Who should book Media Day?
Media Day is typically scheduled by a coach, athletic director, or a team parent representing the group. Having one point of contact helps keep scheduling organized and ensures everything runs smoothly for the team. Once a date is secured, I’ll provide a simple sign up link for families so each athlete can register and access their photos after Media Day.
When should Media Day take place?
Media Day is best scheduled before the season begins or within the first few weeks of the season. This timing allows teams to use their images for social media, team banners, senior recognition, game programs, and other promotional materials throughout the season. Scheduling early also ensures athletes have their photos ready for school announcements and yearbook submissions while the excitement for the season is just beginning.
What should athletes bring or wear?
Athletes should arrive in their full game uniform unless otherwise directed by their coach. Athletes are also encouraged to bring equipment, such as balls, bats, gloves, helmets, sticks, or other gear used during competition. Trophies are also welcome. Clean uniforms and clean equipment photograph best.
How do families order photos?
After Media Day, each athlete will receive access to an online gallery where families can view their images. Digital files are available for download, allowing families the freedom to print and share their photos however they choose. These high resolution images can be used for social media, senior recognition, banners, gifts, or prints through any lab of their choice. This approach gives families the flexibility to order exactly what they want without being limited to preset packages.
Who handles permissions for sports fields or gyms?
Coaches and Parents and are responsible for securing permission to photograph on school property, athletic fields, or inside gyms. I’m happy to work within approved locations and schedules, but access and approval must be arranged in advance to ensure a smooth day.
What is the flow of Media Day?
Media Day begins with a full team photo so everyone can be included right away. From there, we move into individual athlete portraits where I guide athletes through a variety of poses while also allowing them to bring their own ideas and personality into their photos. Depending on the team’s preferences, we may also capture additional group images such as seniors, captains, or position groups. The process is designed to be organized, efficient, and fun while still giving each athlete the time needed to create great images.
